第15回みゆき野映画祭in斑尾の開催にあたりまして、一言歓迎のご挨拶を申し上げます。

全国各地から、ここ飯山市の斑尾高原においでいただきます皆様を心より歓迎いたします。

斑尾高原は、豊富な積雪により一大スノーリゾートを形成しており、国内はもとより世界中から良質な雪を求める多くのお客様をお迎えしております。

さて、ここ数年、世界中で新型コロナによる社会活動の中止や縮小が相次ぐ中、本映画祭では無観客上映やオンライン中継などの対策を取られて開催の努力を続けてこられました。近年では、高校生映画監督が海外のプロの映画監督の指導を受ける機会を設けるなど、若い人たちの未来を拓く有意義な活動を着実に進めておられますことに敬意を表します。

今回で１５回目を数えるこの映画祭は、雪で製作されたスクリーンで構成される雪の映画館を舞台に、北欧や日本の短編映画が上映されるという大変特色あるものです。

雪国の高原という静かな自然環境の中で、幻想的な雰囲気を醸し出しており、毎回この映画祭を楽しみにされているファンも数多いとお聞きしております。

日本と北欧は遠く離れており、普段なかなか交流する機会がありませんが、映画の上映を通じて、日本だけでなく北欧の歴史文化や風土、人々の暮らしの一端に触れられる貴重な機会となっております。

併せて、今回はプロの短編映画のほかに、日本の高校生監督による映画が全国各地の高校から９作品上映される予定です。若い皆さんには、今後も熱心に制作に取り組まれ、将来は映像分野で飛躍されますことをご期待申し上げます。

結びに、みゆき野映画祭の今後益々のご発展と、関係するすべての皆様のご健勝をお祈り申し上げ、歓迎のご挨拶といたします。

I am Ezawa Kishio, Mayor of the City of Iiyama.

On the occasion of the 15th Miyukino Film Festival in Iyama, I would like to say a few words of welcome.

I would like to extend a hearty welcome to all of you who are coming from all over the country to the Iiyama Plateau in the city of Iiyama.

The abundance of snow in the area has made it a major snow resort, welcoming visitors from all over the country and the world in search of quality snow.

In the last few years, amidst a succession of cancellations and reductions in social activities due to the new coronavirus around the world, the festival has continued its efforts to hold the festival by taking measures such as screenings with no live audience and online broadcasts. In recent years, the festival has steadily promoted meaningful activities that open up the future for young people, such as providing opportunities for high school filmmakers to receive guidance from professional filmmakers from abroad.

The 15th anniversary of the festival is very unique in that short films from Scandinavia and Japan are screened in a snow cinema with screens made of snow.

The quiet natural environment of the snowy highlands creates a fantastic atmosphere, and we hear that many fans look forward to this film festival every time.

Japan and Scandinavia are far apart and there are usually few opportunities to interact with each other, but the film screenings provide a valuable opportunity to experience a part of the history, culture, climate and lifestyle of the people of Scandinavia as well as of Japan.

At the same time, in addition to professional short films, nine films directed by Japanese high school students from different high schools around the country will be screened at this year's festival. We hope that these young people will continue to work enthusiastically on their productions and make great strides in the field of film and television in the future.

In conclusion, I would like to conclude my welcome address by wishing the Miyukino Film Festival continued development and good health for everyone involved.
